WILL AI REPLACE HOTEL PABX IN THE FUTURE

AI is not directly replacing the PABX (Private Automatic Branch Exchange) hardware itself, but it is rapidly replacing the traditional functions and legacy workflows associated with it.
While the PABX system often remains as the underlying infrastructure—especially in modern IP PABX—AI is taking over the "brain" of hotel communications by handling guest calls and requests autonomously.
Now AI is transforming the Hotel PABX Virtual Operators: AI voice agents now answer 100% of incoming calls, handling routine questions about breakfast times or valet services without human intervention.
Direct Routing: Instead of a human operator transferring calls, AI integrates with Property Management Systems (PMS) to route inquiries directly to the correct department or room.
Shift to VoIP: Modern hotels are using on-premise IPPABX hardware and VoIP, which natively support AI features like real-time translation and sentiment analysis.
Omnichannel Integration: Guests increasingly bypass the bedside phone entirely, using AI-powered WhatsApp bots or in-room smart speakers to place requests.
